This grouping of chives looks green and lovely. The hollow, linear leaves are plump with onion flavor. These are about to flower and the pink blossoms will be great on salads. Now, the leaves can be chopped for soups, salads or omelettes. Allium schoenoprasum shines every spring along with other plants from the onion family (including the non-edible flowering onions- stay tuned); chives will stay all season in the perennial border and should be placed at the front because of their petite size. They make a great edger for other edibles in the kitchen garden.
