Corn in the City

Do you think you don’t have room for a garden? Try the front yard… even in the city. Towering stalks of corn create a grand entry way to the door in this urban home. The owners told me everyone has an opinion as they pass by on the sidewalk. Some wonder if they will get a crop… (pollination is being done by hand). Others smile with remembrance of growing up in the country where rows of corn were an everyday occurrence. I wish them all success… nothing is better than Ohio sweet corn, especially when it’s homegrown right outside your door- your front door.

Heh. That’s definitely not something to try if you live in a tract with a strict homeowners’ association. I can just imagine the busy bodies in my grandparents’ HOA going crazy that someone planted a “farm” in their front yard. 😉
