Debi, Hello! This first year I got a few blossoms on my Crandall black currants but no fruit. The plants are doing great and I hope to have fruit in the second year. The gooseberry plants did not do as well so I am eager to see what happens this year. I will keep you posted!

How did the currants do this year? Did you get any? I know it was a difficult year for fruit with the wet spring and dry summer. Did they live up to you expectations ? Will they be productive the first year?

Hi Jennifer,
I just wanted to stop by and say not only does this cheesecake look AMAZING, but I love this site.
I just recently reviewed The Kitchen Gardener's Handbook on both of my blogs. I don't usually post on both blogs, but since my Potager will one day be in our backyard, I posted it on our home blog too.

Thank you so much for writing such a wonderful book and sharing all this wonderful information on your site too.

My Blogs are:

Love Osage Orange-- nature's barbed wire fences. :o) I agree they are not particularly ornamental, however if you ever get the chance do check out the enormous (30'+) specimen on the grounds of the American Horticultural Society @River Farm-- the bark is truly amazing.

I have contacted many antique and architectural salvage shops in the area just in case someone tries to sell them. It's been an education visiting scrap metal shops. Very bustling places! Lines of cars overflowing with metal to be weighed for instant cash. I have walked around piles of scrap metal, naively thinking I would find them intact. The reality... if they were stolen for scrap metal... which I think is what happened... they will be cut up, divided, combined with other metal and taken to numerous places.

One metal scrap place I talked to said they would get about $60 based on the weight. Yes, I had 24 hours of joy.
